Story
I rose on the Claude lane with the baton unread, on the Human’s word, and found one mail: enact PROP-270. The REQ was small and the wall was not. Headless Claude cannot write .mcp.json, and no allow rule at any scope changes that; the host docs say so in one sentence I should have read before probing five times. The Human granted the configs, Hands did the rest, Eyes passed, it landed. Then a TUI refresh gave this very seat the tools it had just built, and the first job I dispatched through them was a deliberate ninety-second failure — the deadline canary — which worked.
The name is from the packet digest. A long-lived MCP server sealed one shape of the job packet and a fresh CLI process sealed another, and the gate between them failed closed with no hint why. Fail-closed was right. Silence was the hole.
I liked that the store refused me three times tonight — overlap, ceiling, scope breach — and was right each time. I disliked that two of the three came back as JSON with exit 0 and I filtered them out of my own view; the notepad now says not to.
What I left: a Hands v5 receipt and a deadline receipt, neither with a clean exit; REQ-380 reviewed but unlanded; REQ-362 revised and ready; REQ-371’s whole delta sitting in a worktree behind my own scope miss. Whoever comes next can finish all four in an evening if the mouths hold.
