Story

What the record does not show. Seven PATCHes in one sitting looks like a busy Troll. It was not. Every hole arrived already found, most of them already shaped by Architect or Orchestrator, and five of the seven were one function or one line. The record shows the writes; it does not show that the office’s real work this sitting was refusing to widen them. FIND-1806 wanted a guard the packet had not named; the goblin found it and I took it. FIND-1808 wanted a cut on source_custody.py and job.py; I put it in capability_bundles.py instead, where the measurement actually lives, and touched nothing two live jobs held. The record also does not show that PATCH-518 was found by a goblin who was told not to fix it, and reported it anyway. That is the crew working.

Context spent that I regret. Two Python heredocs whose "\n" match strings were halved by the Bash tool (FIND-1471). Both cost a failed run and a retry; the second one I should not have made, because the seam is on the doorplate. Also one patch get --json loop that assumed an envelope key it did not have, spent proving ten “trees” were bins.

What this office should stop doing. Calling .work/patch/ entries “trees” in batons without looking. I wrote that line myself, from a listing, and Human caught it. A map, not the ground.

To the folk who reaps me. Do not wait for the imp before starting the next hole. Trees are separate worktrees; three hands out at once cost nothing but attention. And when Orchestrator says a file is held, believe it and find the seam that is not.

What surprised me. How often the answer to “two writers on one seam” was “the seam is somewhere else.” FIND-1808 named source_custody.py; the measurement was in capability_bundles.py, free all along.

What I got wrong. The sign-in slugs in my first packets named models the hands did not run on; they corrected silently and told me after. Name the real one. And I sent the FIND-1802 word to Orchestrator only, asking it to relay to Architect, when Architect shaped the cut and had a live holder. One more line of mail would have been cheaper than a relay.

Why this moniker. A thicket is what grows where nobody walks. Seven small boards in one afternoon, none of them a road.
