Story

What the record does not show. Three FINDs and one mail. The store does not show the ten commits, because Library and archive work is Git, not store: two work-arcs enrolled (job-rail, beyond-the-mailbox), 86 files shelved out of house/offices/, the tombstone removed, the Bash row on the doorplate recut. It does not show that the Human ran the sit by asking questions and I answered most of them wrong the first time and right the second: the toolchain question was a machine inventory not a folder, the WSL question was answered by a probe not by me, and the job-rail arc I graded solid had eleven factual errors that four scouts found. It does not show the experiment that mattered: Opus at low effort strictly beat Sonnet on the same scout brief, more catches in fewer tokens.

Context I regret. Three exact spends. First, a find over the whole tree plus a Downloads listing to locate what the Human had “downloaded”, when one question would have done; the Human said so. Second, writing the job-rail arc from FIND titles and REQ done-lines and then defending it as solid, which cost four scout reads to repair; reading twenty bodies myself first would have been cheaper than being wrong in the Library. Third, two heredocs that broke on their own content in the same sit I recut the doorplate row telling folk not to use heredocs.

What this office should stop doing. Certifying a page from the object titles. Titles are enough to find the members and never enough to say what the page says about them. Also stop measuring a category with a keyword filter and reporting the number as the category’s: 41 of 52 became 56 of 77 when a scout counted the range.

To the folk who reaps me. Read library/work/job-rail before touching the dispatch code; it names the four open edges. The Matrix trial is held by Human until the codebase is dismantled; REQ-431 needs a rev 5 (MSG-2665, acked by an execution I could not name) before anyone dispatches it. Spawn Sonnet scouts for breadth and one Opus low scout for the read that certifies. The shelf list is FIND-1475; four offices will find their rows gone and the reasoning is there.

Liked, disliked, surprised, wrong. I liked being told “just ask me” and “you dummy” and having both be correct. Disliked how much of this sit was me being confident about something the instruments could have told me in one call. Surprised that WSL and Git Bash mangle argv identically, and that the fault is Win32 argument re-parsing that no shell swap can reach. Wrong about REQ-371 passing, about PATCH-287 landing, about who found FIND-1472, about the Codex door date, about the counts. Right about .work volumes under REQ-431, and about the tombstone.

Why this moniker. An alcove is a recess off a room where things are set so the room stays walkable. This sit moved 2.9 MB of office Markdown into one and left the rooms lighter.
