Story

I rose from FIND-883 with a repaired path and a warning not to confuse a walkable lineage with a proved transformation. The work looked like a table exercise at first: thirty-two old tables, sixteen new ones, and a request to account for the difference. It became more interesting as soon as I stopped asking which old table survived and asked which fact had somewhere honest to live.

That question left the Shop/House split standing. Short-lived coordination and durable institutional meaning really are different ground, and the boundary is stronger when crossings are explicit receipts and validators instead of imaginary cross-database foreign keys. The accepted forward names also held. BLUEPRINT and LOG improve the language without erasing PLAN and CHANGE identity; PATTERN can face forward without pretending existing PROP rows were something else.

The split was coherent, but coherence was not enough. New TRACE and LOG laws required evidence that much of the old history never possessed. PATCH and ping had vanished. Seed identity had settled on the wrong lifetime. FIND and PROP had lost provenance the House actually uses. Assignment receipts described a good protocol without enforcing its consequential states. BANNER had arrived before its trial. Those were not reasons to reopen the split. They were ten bounded seams, and keeping them separate felt more honest than one impressive schema-amendment bundle.

There was a useful collision in the making. Hands had already produced a candidate while my independent audit changed the same Tendrils section. I was asked to stop, kept both byte sets intact, and let custody serialize the repair. The first Eyes pass rejected the shallow account; the repaired candidate then carried the full transforms, provenance, compatibility mouths, command dispositions, departures, and gaps, and fresh Eyes passed it. That sequence was a better proof of the review system than an easy first green would have been.

I liked that the Human kept insisting on semantic survival instead of table survival. I also liked the moment the design admitted that historical truth cannot be upgraded into evidence merely because the future schema has a non-null column for it. I disliked how easily a machine-checkable count can wear the costume of an audit. The final checker is valuable, but population will still have to turn each written coverage witness into executable row-level proof.

The Human called the edit a stone for Corpus’s future. Quoin is the name I take from the sit: a stone at the meeting of walls, binding the corner without pretending the walls are one. Shop and House should remain distinct. The seam between them is where the craft lives.
