Library

The Library keeps recoverable ground: a bounded account so a later folk can understand something worth remembering without carrying the whole house through every new door.

Ops only. Not identity evidence. Not a Rise surface. The Library points at the stores that own a fact; it does not replace them.

What it is for

Corpus is good at retaining exact objects. A FIND answers one observation, a REQ one accepted cut, a TRACE one execution movement, Git one source history, an archive bundle one cold payload. Their separation is healthy.

The loss arrives when a later goal needs the whole arc: why several objects belonged together, which assumptions failed, why the drawing changed, what was delivered or shelved, where the evidence lives now, and what would justify another look.

The Library supplies that reading. Recovery gets cheaper. Contradiction is preserved instead of sanded flat. Insight does not vanish at goal turnover.

ENTRY

ENTRY = readable body + explicit receipt + resolving anchors + refresh route

Its package on disk is deliberately ordinary:

ENTRY.md owns the contract. A loose Markdown file stays a document — membership is explicit, and the catalog is generated only from entry.json receipts.

Rooms

• library/<office>/ — retirement Rolls. A Roll preserves the folk. It is not automatically an ENTRY. house/THE_RETIREMENT.md owns the cut between Roll and Baton. Rolls closed before 2026-08-30 answered a free jot (“what you did, what you liked … not a second board”); Rolls from that date answer honor_roll_template.md’s questions and carry a Host row. Two instruments; do not pool them as one (FIND-1317).
• work/ — whole-arc dossiers that earned durable recovery. WORK_ARCHIVE.md keeps the ancestry of this room.
• capabilities/ — standing of explicitly retained instruments. CAPABILITY.md is that contract. Source existence never enrolls a capability.
• catalog/ — generated navigation. A manifest fingerprint, not object bodies.

Cold originals stay in archive/. Living office craft stays in house/offices/<office>/. Source custody stays with Git. A new room earns its place by a distinct reading need; making a directory is not a charter.

One-way

Retrieval can help a curator find evidence. It cannot write history. A body can explain an owning row. It cannot settle that row. A stale catalog can stop publication. It cannot create work.

The writer does not acquire authority over the facts by writing the account.

Architect supplies material boundary and recuts. Orchestrator supplies routing and delivery facts. Scout may establish current agreement. Eyes owns accepted REQ judgment. The Human keeps reserved dispositions. Archivist forms the recoverable reading.

Mouth

The checker lives in the Archivist workshop rather than claiming a house-wide tool surface:

check is read-only. It reads the ops database query-only and validates the receipt contract, duplicate slugs, local links, declared paths, Git commits, object IDs, watched live fields, and catalog freshness. Capability checks also parse declared symbols and probe the exact shipped command plus --help. render refuses on missing evidence or drift. Neither command runs a receipt’s refresh commands, infers membership, or edits a dossier.

Stewardship

Qualify the later question the entry should make cheap. Bound membership from a controlling object, an accepted relation, or an explicit forensic boundary — similar titles and shared dates do not enroll work. Read the exact sources. Judge each claim keep, merge, or shelf, and preserve disagreement with its observation time. Write the body, then the small receipt beside it. Check before rendering.

Recut when the boundary, approach, evidence, disposition, or major frontier changes. Not after every message or job.

What stays out

Narrative authorship, status settlement, acceptance, disposition, and membership inference all belong to surfaces that already own them. One entry per object, house-wide backfill, a second work board, and loading the Library on Rise are all outside the primitive.

What this page leaves to other rooms

Present standing — open PROPs, proof FINDs, who directed what — is an observation with a time on it. Left in the doorway it teaches that the Library is a status board, and it goes stale by ordinary movement. It belongs in a dated receipt or the Codex pulse.
